COMMMITMENT
Participation on the EnPointe Performance Studio (EPS) competition team (“Company”) is a great deal of fun, but it requires a significant commitment to dance and a good deal of time and effort. Before accepting your invitation, all dancers and parents should take into consideration their financial situation, school grades, schedules, and outside activity loads. No matter how talented a student is, if they do not have time to put dance and the team first or don’t have enough parental support, they may be better off in non-competition classes (recreation). Being a part of the EnPointe Performance Studio Competition Team is a commitment, not a hobby.
Being a member of the EnPointe Performance Studio Competition Team should be your top priority among all extra-curricular activities. We expect rehearsals and competitions to take precedence over your other extra-curricular activities. If you cannot make that commitment, please reconsider your participation on the EnPointe Performance Studio Competition Team.
If you do not have the right attitude for hard work and getting along with others and if you are not willing to work to be the absolute best that you can be then the EnPointe Company is not for you!
If you do have the right attitude, then get ready for a great year! Being a part of Company is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll ever have. You will not only learn to love and respect the art of dance, but you’ll discover just how much you are capable of and what kind of dancer you really are. Dance is the only activity that offers both athletics and artistry ~ it’s really the best of both worlds!
FINANCIAL COMMITMENT
Tuition is paid monthly and is non-refundable. You are not charged additionally for a 5-week month, nor
do you receive a credit for holidays and vacation breaks. Tuition is not prorated or refunded if a student
misses their class (including but not limited to injury, vacations, behavior, etc). There will be no refunds
given of any sort due to studio closures for inclement weather, pandemics, or government mandated
closures. In the event an abundance of such studio closures must arise, a virtual class option &/or a make-up practive will be available to compensate. Payments must be kept current for students to continue their participation. All payments must go through parent portal unless paying with cash. All payments are still due on or before the due date with cash.
Available sources of payment include:
➢ AutoPay (Withdrawals completed on 1st of each month for tuition & completed on due date for team expenses)
➢ Cash (Tuition: Due 1st of the month, late after 5th. Exact change only, Team Fees: must be paid before or on payment due date )
TUITION
Tuition is due (drafted) on the 1st of each month and late after the 5th. A $20.00 late fee will be applied for all
outstanding accounts on the 6th. An additional late fee will continue to be added every 5 days past due date(s).
Consistent delinquent payments on regular tuition accounts (more than 2 consecutive months) and all other team fees over 15 day due date will result in the removal of student’s participation on the competition team and dance classes. No student will
participate in a performance or competition until all required fees, regular tuition and competition fees;
late fees and/or costume fees are received and cleared. If needed, please contact the director to discuss
payment plans. We do not want to deny any student the opportunity to dance but at the same time cannot
allow a student to get too far behind on their payments.
TEAM FEES
Team fees are (drafted) on the due date provided at the beginning of the season. A $20.00 late fee is added every 5 days past fee due date. Consistent late fees and delinquent accounts will result in a dancer's ability to continue with competition team. If an account goes 60 days past due, it will be sent to collections.
IMPORTANT:
We would like to express the importance of discussing the financial and time commitment of the EnPointe Performance Studio Competition Team as a family and/or with spouses BEFORE committing to audition for the team to make sure you are aware of all the financial obligations and time commitment!
Being an EnPointe Company Member is both a TIME and FINANCIAL commitment! Costumes, competition fees, monthly tuition, and all other required events, and obligations really add up and we want to make sure you are well informed and make realistic decisions!
Fundraising opportunities are available but ultimately the financial responsibility is yours.
2024/2025 COMPANY HANDBOOK
EXCLUSIVITY POLICY - IMPORTANT
For all competition team dancers- “Company” team students are representing EnPointe Performance Studio and may not perform or compete for any other studio, competition team or dance company unless discussed with the director. Taking Master classes, Workshops, or strictly technique classes elsewhere are acceptable, WITH PERMISSION, as long as students aren’t performing, competing or representing another studio, and as long as they are meeting all their class requirements at our studio. We feel that it is a conflict of interest for any student to represent two studios simultaneously. Conflicts could arise if the two different teams had incompatible practice schedules or competitions on the same weekend. We practice the week prior to a competition and conflicts could occur at that time, as well. Please be sensitive to this issue as you have others on the teams who have dedicated their time. Please clear any other classes taken with the director. Students may not attend other competitions as “independent” competitors using EnPointe Performance Studio choreography without our studio or permission to do so from the director.
TEAM AUTHORITY
We welcome feedback from parents, but you must remember that all artistic, technical, and strategic decisions rest solely with the coach and studio director, and all such decisions are made in accordance with the highest standards of dance education and in the best interest of the team.
Parents making demands about how their kids should be assessed, rewarded, placed or the choice of costumes, competitions, music or any other team-related decisions will be considered in violation of the team’s rules and regulations. Remember, the team comes before the individual dancer!
SOLO/DUET/TRIO
EnPointe staff selects dancers for solos & duo/trio opportunities based on technique, commitment, confidence, musicality, showmanship, emotional readiness, and ability to learn material quickly and to correct mistakes. A parent cannot ‘make a decision’ or pay an extra amount of money for this honor. If your child is selected for one of these, the below additional requirements should be expected:
➢ Costume Fee
➢ Choreography Fee
➢ Required private lessons (Minimum of 1-2 per month)
➢ Required additional performances/competitions
REQUIRED CHOREOGRAPHY FEES
Choreography fees are a 1-time fee required for each performance piece your dancer is selected for. The director will work closely with each dance parent to select a choreographer within their requested budget for solos & duo/trios.
-
Solos: $250-$500 *depending on choreographer
-
Duo/Trio: $80-$150/dancer *depending on choreographer
-
Small/Large/Line Groups: $65-250/dancer *Depending on choreographer
ATTENDANCE
There are no 'excused' and 'unexcused' absences. All days missed are considered 'personal' days & affects their attendance record. The studio tries its best to be flexible and accommodating with conflicts due to school and/or important family activities. However, by becoming a member of the EPS Company you have agreed that this is a priority in your schedule. Missed classes for any reason, including illness, will be recorded. If more than 5 absences have occurred per class, per semester: Fall: Aug-Dec & Spring: Jan-Nationals (June/July), it is very likely the dancer will be removed from competition team and placed in our recreation program. Any time an absence occurs, students are responsible to learn what was missed before the next class. Your teacher may require you to make up any classes missed with a private lesson at your expense.
Participation at all performances is mandatory! If a dancer misses a performance and a dance has to be re-spaced that dancer will not be put back into that routine. Illness, Injury, or a death in the family is excused and those dancers will be allowed to return to their group, with the possibility of new placements.
Seasonal Year: (September-December & January-Nationals (June/July): 5 absences per semester
Dancers cannot miss the week before a competition or performance for any reason. Doing so will result in his/her inability to compete or perform. NO EXCUSES!
**All absences should be logged through parent portal under attendance and should not be sent by email, phone call, or text message.**
If you are later than 10 minutes, the instructor reserves the right to ask the dancer to sit out and watch the class rather than disturb the class. Also, frequent tardies and absences may result in students to drop their solos, duets or trios. Being a part of the competition team is a team effort and attendance is very important to the other dancers.
COSTUMES
Costume charges are an additional expense. Costume costs vary greatly with some costumes created out of items already in dancer’s closet/bought at local store (for example: baggy or ripped jeans with sneakers and a hoodie/t‐shirt are typically used for hip‐hop dances) and other costing $175.00 to $250.00+. Parents and students will be asked to assist in the preparation of costumes, including rhinestoning or altering. Again, costume costs will vary on the number of dances each dancer is dancing in. In addition to competition costumes, there will be additional recital costumes required.
If you quit or are asked to leave a team, you are required to leave your costumes at the studio for another person to fill your spot. This is not negotiable. If you do not leave your costumes, for each costume needed, your account will be charged a replacement cost. EnPointe Performance Studio staff members are not responsible for lost or damaged costumes. It is the parent’s responsibility to fix costume(s) back to the original design before the next performance/event/competition.
COMPETITIONS/
CONVENTIONS
EnPointe Company Team 2024-2025 will compete in minimum of four (4) competitions (Jan-June/July). Depending on scheduling by competitions it could be less. A schedule will be given no later than the end of December with all dates. This gives you plenty of time to work out conflicts. Attendance at every competition is required for every competition team member. Missing a competition is automatic grounds for dismissal from the EnPointe Performance Studio Competition Team. Separate rehearsals may be held before each competition in preparation for the upcoming event. Competitions are usually scheduled for Friday through Sunday with some rare occasions of being scheduled on a Thursday depending on size of competition. There is a chance that your child will be scheduled to compete on a Thursday/Friday afternoon or on a Sunday. Please plan to keep your competition weekend completely free as schedules are not provided until a minimum of 5-7 business days before. You must be prepared to stay the whole time until awards are finished. If for some reason you must leave early, you must get approval first from the director. Company members will be required to participate in a minimum of 1 convention.
-
Dancers are to arrive at the competition venue at the given time staff provides. Arriving late can result in your dancer’s inability to perform/compete at given competition.
-
Dancers should come dressed, ready to go to every competition/event at the stated time given by coach.
-
Required hairstyles may inquire an additional fee
-
Performance make-up required for all members
BEHAVIOR
If you post negative things on social media-Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., or exhibit behavior reflecting negatively on our studio, we will consider this ground for automatic termination from EnPointe Performance Studio. This includes the behavior of both dancers & parents. If we are in a public situation, i.e., parades, recital, competitions, etc., the expectation is that you will conduct your behavior responsibly. Remember you are a representative of EnPointe Performance Studio. If there are situations that need to be addressed, please remember that we can handle those upon return to the studio. Disrespect (physically, written, verbally) from a child or parent to another child, parent, director, coach, or staff member will not be tolerated! It is unacceptable. NO EXCEPTIONS! Gossip is like poison and spreads quickly! Our goal is to foster a healthy competitive team environment. There is no room for personal conflicts. Do not bring them to the dance studio.
Some parents may compare their child’s progress or class or choreography placement to that of others in the program. Watch for this behavior in your children as well and encourage them to focus on their own accomplishments. Looking to others for inspiration is a good thing; however, a negative focus or comparison distracts from the energy that could be focused on becoming a stronger dancer. In addition, speaking negatively about your child’s teachers, fellow dancers, or other parents in front of your child––or other students––would result in problems far beyond your original concerns. Often children will react to their parents in a way that imitates the parent’s behavior with other adults or authority figures.
Children learn important lessons from their teachers and parents, acquiring important behavior patterns through their example. Our staff takes that responsibility seriously. It’s our philosophy to encourage our students to feel, think, and act respectfully to their peers, the adults in their lives, and themselves.
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s dance education, please don’t talk only with other parents when questions arise but rather an appointment to speak directly to your child’s teachers or the director. Please conduct all communication request regarding this through email rather than approaching your child’s teacher between or during classes or calling them after hours.
If you do request a conference meeting, please listen carefully to what your child’s teachers have to say. They spend a significant amount of time with your child and can offer expertise in the field of dance education.
RULES
➢ No student should leave class without permission
➢ Please notify dance teachers or send a note with your child to inform the instructor of any matters regarding the student. During class, instructors are not permitted to leave their class unattended to speak to a parent.
➢ EnPointe Performance Studio will not be responsible for any items left behind or lost in the studio. Please refrain from sending students to the studio with jewelry or expensive clothing, games, or toys.
➢ Please clean up after yourself in the studio. If you have a drink or food, make sure it is put in the trashcan before you leave.
➢ A $15 additional fee will be charged to parents if child is not picked up more than 15 min after your child’s class time has ended. Please make arrangements in advance for your child’s pick-up arrangements if needed.
CONTRACT TERMINATION FEE
A termination fee is applied if a student leaves the company program regardless of any reason. Dancers who sign/commit by contract and then do not fulfill their commitment from September 2024- July 2025 will be charged a termination fee of $200.00. This policy begins on September 15, 2024. There are no exceptions. Parents and dancers should take this into consideration prior to committing. Accepting placement into the Company Program you agree to the termination fee, NO MATTER THE REASON FOR TERMINATING WHICH is an action that CAUSES MUCH STRESS TO THE TEACHERS & THE STUDENTS in a team - to re-choreograph, have extra rehearsal etc. we believe our program should teach more than dance steps but also commitment and responsibility.
NO REFUNDS
There are NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS that will be given for tuition, registration fee, recital tickets, costumes, competition fees, conventions fees, team fees, camps, event fees, and any other related fee associated with EnPointe Performance Studio.
